Wendy Lowe Besmann is a longtime journalist as well as the mother of a teenage son with autism and bipolar disorder. Her work has appeared in many national publications, including Better Homes & Gardens, The New York Times Magazine, SELF, USA Today, Outside, Esquire and Atlantic. In addition to Team Up for Your Child, she is the author of A Separate Circle (University of Tennessee Press, Knoxville, Tennessee, 2000). Her first novel is scheduled for publication in 2009.

Melton Hill Media LLC is a micropublisher of books and teaching aids that help families take charge of their health care. The company, established in 2007, evolved from a three-year, non-profit pilot project to create a workbook that would help parents of children with behavioral health problems to navigate professional systems more effectively. That project became Team Up for Your Child, which Wendy wrote in consultation with 23 health and education professionals. The book was licensed to Melton Hill Media in January 2008 as its first title. The Fast Fact File series of teaching aids was started in March 2008.
